Voter Registration
Residents may register to vote at any time. If a qualified voter is not registered to vote and wants to vote in a particular election, the qualified voter must register at least 15 days before that election in order to be eligible to vote.
Voter registration requirements:
- U.S. Citizen
- Be at 18 years old on or before election day
You cannot register to vote if:
- Currently serving a court sentence for a felony
- Currently on parole
- Have been declared mentally incompetent by a court of law
Voter registration forms are available at the City Clerk's Office, U.S. Post Offices, Public Libraries, Department of Motor Vehicles offices and other public buildings. Members of the public may register online or download the registration form from the Secretary of State's website at www.ss.ca.gov or the Federal Election Commission's website at www.fed.gov. Additional information on voter registration may be obtained at the L.A. County Clerk/Recorder's website: http://www.lavote.net.
