Is a City Wi-FiSM connection secure?
As with any Internet communication, there’s a risk hackers may try to intercept emails, files or data. If security is an important concern, it is recommended Wi-Fi be used only for basic Internet surfing and to avoid sending confidential or sensitive information. As well, a firewall is always recommended when on any publicly shared network.
Why can’t I check my email?
Only Port 80 is available so only web-based email access (webmail) is available at City Wi-FiSM access points. You must go to your email provider’s website to check your email. (No VPNs or POP3)
My wireless says I'm connected to City Wi-FiSM, but why does it say there's no Internet?
You must first open a browser and accept the terms of use before browsing the Internet.
How do I connect with a Mac?
