Facility Locations
Tennis Courts available for use on an advanced
Fee Reservation Basis - Santa Monica Residents that purchase a
resident reservation card will have priority.
(See reservation
information below.)
- Reed Park - 6 lighted courts courts
located at 7th and Wilshire Blvd.
- Ocean View Park - 6 non lighted courts
located at 2600 Barnard Way (1 block south of Ocean Park Blvd).
Reservations available year round on Saturday
and Sunday. Weekday reservations available
during the summer season only (Memorial Day
through Labor Day).
Tennis Courts available for use on a free, drop-in,
non-reserved basis -
(See Tennis Court Rules of Etiquette below.). Courts may be reserved
for Group or Individual Lessons/Programs/Events.
- Clover Park - 2 lighted courts located
at 25th and Ocean Park Blvd.
- Douglas Park - 2 lighted courts located on
25th and Wilshire Blvd.
- Los Amigos Park - 1 lighted court
located at 6th and Hollister Ave. Court is available only
when school classes or sponsored programs are not in session
(usually on weekdays after 6pm or all day on weekends)
- Marine Park - 3 lighted courts located
at 17th and Marine Ave.
- Memorial Park - 4 lighted courts located
at 14th and Olympic Blvd.
Two Tennis courts located at the Yahoo
Center (2500 Broadway) in Santa Monica
are available for the general public to
reserve for recreational play. There is
no cost to make a reservation or use the
courts for recreational play. Interested
tennis players can call 310-829-2227 up
to a week in advance to reserve a court.
Players can reserve up to a court for up
to two hours.
Please
note: At any time, one of the two courts
may have been reserved for private
commercial tennis instruction limiting
recreational play availability to one
court.
City Group Tennis Lessons
A full array of city-sponsored group tennis
lessons for all ages. Classes are offered on a year-
round basis and can be found in
RecScape, the
schedule included with the city's SeaScape
newsletter four times a year. For information regarding
these
tennis lessons, call 458-2239.
City Sponsored Tennis Tournaments
Tournaments - The city conducts three tournaments officially sanctioned
by the Southern California Tennis Association each year. Results are
used to establish rankings:
- Santa Monica Senior Tournament - held on 2
successive weekends in late January/early February. This
competition is a high caliber open level competition
for men and women. Numerous age categories ranging from 30 years
and over to 70 years and over. Both singles and doubles events
are offered.
- Santa Monica Open - held during the last two weeks in
August culminating on Labor Day Weekend. Open and Satellite
Level competition offered for boys and girls 18 and under in
numerous age categories beginning with 10 yrs and under.
Youth event is held during the third week in August. The Adult
tournament provides singles and doubles events in various
ability level categories ranging from USTA rated 3.5 to Open
Level.
- The Santa Monica Dudley Cup Tennis
Championship - held at Reed and Ocean View
Parks in April, this tournament hosts more than
200 junior tennis players from all over Southern
California.
Community-Based Tennis Organizations and Programs
- Santa Monica Tennis Santa Monica Tennis Club - A non
profit community organization provides year round social and
competitive tennis opportunities. Activities
include tournaments, Sunday drop in play, tennis ladders, trips,
rating clinics and team tennis programs. For further information

- Tennis Patrons of Santa Monica - promotes tennis in
the community. They provide instruction at selected local
elementary public schools as well a Saturday Team Tennis
program. (see next). Call 310-458-3009
- Santa Monica Team Tennis - Saturday morning program for
youth ages 18 and under. Program provides local competitive match
play opportunity. Program is offered in the fall and spring
each year. Participant must be able to keep score and have
skills necessary to serve and keep a rally going. The program
is conducted under the auspices of the Tennis Patrons of Santa

- N.J.T.L. - The United States Tennis Association in
cooperation with the City of Santa Monica provides a series
of low cost group tennis instruction classes designed to
introduce this lifetime sport to youth ages 7 through 17. A
series of six week session providing 18 hours of
instruction are offered on weekday afternoons on a year
round basis. Participants receive program T-shirts,
U.S.T.A. membership and tickets to the L.A. Professional
Championships (summer only).
- Southern California Tennis Association - Section chapter of United
States Tennis Association. Promotes a wide range of tennis programs, events,
training/certification programs and education for youth and adults. Main office
located at the U.C.L.A. Tennis Stadium. For further information, call

The Tennis Reservation Office is located at
Christine Reed Park located on 7th and Wilshire
Blvd.

Resident Reservations - Santa Monica Residents may purchase an
annual tennis reservation card ($10). Card holders may reserve courts by
phone up to three days in advance (see reservation schedule).
Card may be purchased in person at Reed Park. Proof of residency
required Current Picture ID indicating home address and a
recent utility bill indicating card users name and home
address.
Non-Resident Cardholder Reservations - Non residents or residents
that do not have a reservation card (see above) may reserve a court on
the same day of play only.
Court Fees - $2.50 per person per hour. Residents Card Holders may
purchase a Quarterly Pass (see below)
Resident Quarterly Pass - may be purchased by resident card holders
for four periods each year

Private Tennis Instruction - Independent
tennis instructors may register to teach on City courts during
designated times and locations. Courts must be reserved and paid for
in advance at a cost of $12 per hour. Private
lessons are limited to one or two students. All
group lessons and tennis camps are conducted through
the city's Community Classes Program.
Special Events, Film Shoots and Tournaments -
Courts may be reserved in advance to groups. Fee based on activity. Call
for details.
