Council Adopts Living Wage Ordinance

A minimum "living wage" of $11.50/hour for Santa Monica City employees went into effect on January 1, 2005.  Details are included in the February 8 City Council Staff Report on the Mid-year Budget Review.

On Tuesday, February 24, 2005, The Santa Monica City Council adopted an ordinance which mandates that effective July 1, 2005, and applicable to contracts of $50K or more that go into effect on or after that date, a minimum wage of $11.50/hour be paid.   The second reading for this ordinance is scheduled for March 8, 2005.
