Fees Permit Costs:
The cost of a building permit, (Plan check and Permit fees), is based on the square footage of the project as determined by the type of construction, size of project and the specific use of the building or structure.

Plan Check Fees :
Plan check fees as well as all other applicable mandatory fees are paid at the time a project is submitted. Depending on the scope of the project other fees may include Environmental Public Works fees, Planning Fees, Unit and Condo tax, Seismic Mapping fees, etc. If during the plan check process any adjustment to the valuation is made, the corrected total fees shall be collected at the time of the final plan approval. All Over-the-Counter Plan Checks fees are paid for at the time of the permit issuance.

Plan check and permit fees are adjusted annually according to the Consumer Price Index. 

Due to a rise in the Index, fees for these services increased 3.7% effective July 1, 2008.
