Frequently Asked Questions 2006-07 Citywide Inventory Update Landmarks Commission |
The City currently has approximately 1,350 resources on the Historic Resources Inventory. The last comprehensive update of the inventory was in the mid-1980s and several district updates occurred through 2004. It is important for the City to keep the Inventory updated because resources change over time and new resources can also be added to or removed from the list. The current Citywide Update effort will involve the exterior evaluation of all buildings in the City built through 1968 to determine if listing on they merit listing on the Historic Resources Inventory.
The Inventory’s primary purpose is an informational tool that will provide the public with the most current information about the City’s historic resources and also aid the City Planning Division in creating policy and in the review of development projects.
The City has hired the firm of Jones & Stokes Associates for the update. The project is anticipated for completion in Fall/Winter 2007. Continue to keep track of this page for updates as they become available. If you have any questions regarding the Citywide Update, please contact the Landmarks Commission Liaison at (310) 458-8341.
