The mission of the Office of Historic Preservation and the State Historical Resources Commission, in partnership with the people of California and governmental agencies, is to preserve and enhance California's irreplaceable historic heritage as a matter of public interest so that its vital legacy of cultural, educational, recreational, aesthetic, economic, social, and environmental benefits will be maintained and enriched for present and future generations.

National Trust for Historic Preservation
For more than 50 years, the National Trust has been helping Americans protect the irreplaceable. A private nonprofit organization with more than 200,000 members, the National Trust is the leader of the vigorous preservation movement that is saving the best of the country's past for the future.

Los Angeles Conservancy
The Los Angeles Conservancy, the largest membership-based local historic preservation organization in the country, is dedicated to the recognition, preservation, and revitalization of the architectural and cultural heritage of greater Los Angeles.

Santa Monica Conservancy
The purposes of the Santa Monica Conservancy are: (1) to increase public awareness of Santa Monica's irreplaceable historical, cultural, and architectural resources;(2) to gather and disseminate information useful in the preservation of the structures and neighborhoods of Santa Monica;(3) to secure the technological, financial, and legal tools sufficient to preserve Santa Monica's historical resources;(4) to engage in such charitable and educational activities as will promote the preservation and enhancement of the important features of Santa Monica's unique urban landscape.

Historic Sites and Museums in Santa Monica
Santa Monica's museums are as eclectic as it is. The city's art exhibit spaces take you back in time to view the beginnings of modern aviation; illustrate the cultural roots and growth of the beach city; and bring you face to face with the contemporary art scene.
