State and local laws protect tenants against illegal lockouts, utility shut-offs and harassment. The City Attorney's Office handles complaints from Santa Monica tenants in these areas. If you have such a complaint, call the City Attorney's Office during at (310) 458-8336. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and alternate Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours and on weekends, you may leave a message and your call will be returned on the next business day.
