870 - Special Collection - Bulky Items & Extra Yard Waste

The City of Santa Monica provides bulky items collection every Friday for a prearranged fee. The fee varies according to the size and weight of the item, and ranges from $25 for a couch to $250 or more for a major clean-up of debris and furniture pieces. Bulky items are limited to those large items that do not fit in a refuse container, such as refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, furniture and similar items.

Large quantities of green or yard waste can also be collected for a prearranged fee. Branches and brush should be no longer than 4 feet in length and no more than 5 inches in diameter. The following materials will not be collected: building materials, tree limbs over 5 feet long or over 5 inches in diameter or tree stumps

Bulky items or green waste scheduled for collection must be placed at curbside or in the alley by 7 a.m. on the scheduled Friday. Items should not be put out more than 48 hours prior to the collection.

Certain precautions should be taken when placing items out for collection. Please do not place items under low hanging wires, balconies, or overhangs. Material should also be placed away from fences or parked cars.
